چکیده

The building and construction sector has a huge impact on the environment because of enormous amounts natural resources energy consumed during life cycle projects. In this study, we evaluated potential environmental villa, from cradle to grave, in Saudi Arabian context. Centrum voor Milieukunde Leiden (CML) for Centre Environmental Science University-IA baseline v3.03 methods were used obtain profile categories, Cumulative Energy Demand v1.09 was measure embodied villa cycle. analyzed midpoint categories include global warming (GWP100a), ozone layer depletion (ODP), acidification (AP), eutrophication (EP), photochemical oxidation (POCP), indicator cumulative demand (CED). operation use phase found have highest with 2.61 × 106 kg CO2-eq 1.75 104 SO2-eq, respectively. Sensitivity analysis performed plans increase share renewable sources reduce amount electricity generated hydrocarbons, which currently represents 46% total installed power, by 2032. results showed that compared current impact, CO2 emission will decrease 53%, significant reduction impact. findings help assessment structures future planning conservation.

Developing sustainable residential buildings in Saudi Arabia: A case study

This paper assesses the energy and water consumption practices of existing housing in Saudi Arabia, with the ultimate aim of establishing guidelines for delivering sustainable residential buildings in the near future. In order to achieve this aim the current status of a typical Saudi residence (i.e. an apartment complex) is investigated in terms of energy and water consumption using simulation ...

Quantification of Improvement in Environmental Quality for Old Residential Buildings Using Life Cycle Assessment

In Slovakia, 35% of buildings are older than 50 years but most newer buildings built before 1990 have greater energy consumption. Some other countries also have similar problems. The growing importance of energy saving in buildings can be, in the case of new and old residential buildings (RB), achieved by lowering thermal energy consumption most often by application of polystyrene insulation on...

Life Cycle Assessment of Residential Buildings: A Case Study in Canada

Residential buildings consume significant amounts of energy and produce large amount of emissions and waste. However, there is a substantial potential for energy savings in this sector which needs to be evaluated over the life cycle of residential buildings. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology has been employed to study the primary energy uses and associated environmental impacts of differe...

Environmental life cycle assessment and optimization of buildings

The work aims to present initial efforts to the development of an integrated user friendly (architect-oriented) tool for the environmental assessment and optimization of buildings. The tool will focus on the preliminary design phase, where improvements, having a major influence on the building lifecycle, are still possible. A software tool for dynamic simulation of the building lifecycle will b...
